This is one of the most common questions we hear — and it's a great one to ask. The short answer is: yes, fully cured epoxy resin is safe for everyday use. But there are important distinctions between cured and uncured resin that every buyer and maker should understand.
Cured vs. Uncured Epoxy Resin
Uncured epoxy resin (the liquid form before it hardens) contains active chemicals that can cause skin irritation, respiratory sensitivity, and allergic reactions with prolonged exposure. This is why proper ventilation, gloves, and protective equipment are essential during the crafting process.
Once epoxy resin has fully cured — typically 72 hours after pouring — the chemical reaction is complete. The result is an inert, stable solid that is non-toxic and safe to handle, display, and use in your home.
Are Epoxy Resin Products Safe to Use Around Food?
Our products — including flight trays, coasters, and lamp bases — are decorative and display items, not intended for direct food contact. We do not certify our resin as food-safe, and we recommend using them as serving display pieces rather than direct food surfaces.
Are They Safe Around Children and Pets?
Yes. Our fully cured resin pieces are safe for use in homes with children and pets. The surface is hard, non-porous, and does not off-gas once cured. As with any decorative item, we recommend keeping small pieces out of reach of young children.
