Why Buying in Person Just Hits Different — And What It Means for Your Wallet

Let me be real with you for a second.

I pour everything into every piece I make — the resin, the pigments, the hours of curing and sanding and polishing until it's just right. And while I love that my work can ship to doorsteps across the country, there's something special that happens when someone walks up, picks up a tray, holds it in their hands, and feels it before they buy it.

If you're local to Knoxville, Tennessee, I want you to know — you've got options. And one of them could save you some money.

The Price Breakdown: Online vs. In Person

Here's the honest truth about how pricing works at Trayz N' Beyond:

Free shipping on orders over $50. If your order hits that threshold, shipping is on me — no matter where you are. Most of my pieces are priced right in that range, so a lot of customers qualify without even thinking about it.

For lighter items under $50, shipping is already built into the price for pieces under 2 lbs. What you see is what you pay — no surprises at checkout.

For heavier items over 2 lbs — like a Complete Package set (Flight Tray + Coaster Set + Lamp Base + Shot Glasses, coming in around 2 lbs) — shipping is carrier-calculated at checkout. The rate depends on your location and the carrier at the time of your order. It's transparent, but it can add up depending on where you're shipping to.

When you buy in person? You pay the base price. Full stop. No carrier fees, no calculated rates, no checkout surprises — and you don't need to hit a $50 minimum to skip the shipping cost. Every dollar you spend goes directly into the piece in your hands.

What You Gain Beyond the Price

Saving on shipping is great, but honestly? That's not even the best part of buying in person.

You get to see the colors in real life. Photos are good — I work hard to make them accurate — but resin catches light in a way that no camera fully captures. The shimmer of the mica, the depth of the glitter, the way a lamp base glows when it's lit up — you have to see it to really get it.

You get to ask me directly. Want a custom color? Curious about how a coaster set would look with a specific tray? Have questions about care and cleaning? When you buy in person, you're talking to the maker. No contact forms, no waiting on a reply — just a real conversation.

You get it immediately. No tracking numbers, no waiting on a delivery window, no "out for delivery" anxiety. You leave with your piece the same day.

For My Knoxville Locals

If you're here in Knoxville and you've been eyeing something in the shop, reach out to me directly. We can arrange a time to meet, you can see the pieces in person, and you'll pay the base price — nothing more.

No local delivery just yet (that's coming), but in-person pickup is absolutely available and I'd love to connect with folks right here in my own city.

So Which Is Right for You?

Here's a quick way to think about it:

  • Order over $50? Ship it — it's free, and most of my pieces qualify.
  • Ordering a larger set that tips over 2 lbs? Consider coming in person to skip the carrier fee entirely.
  • Local to Knoxville? Come see me. Hold the piece. Take it home the same day.

Online ordering is seamless no matter where you are, and I've built the pricing to make shipping as painless as possible. But if you're close by, in-person pickup is always an option — and always worth it.

That's what Trayz N' Beyond is all about — handmade with intention, delivered with care, however works best for you.
